541400 MODIFY TO FIT EXISTING EXHAUST PORTS

There are only two header configurations that we consider standard.  The Mercury style headers point to the manufactures transom layout and the Jet Headers basically point down the same angle as cast manifold.  The standard outdrive or jet boat has about a 27" to 28" exhaust port spacing.  But it has been our experience that performance boats are custom made and exhaust port locations can vary considerably.

541404 EXHAUST COLLECTOR EXTENSIONS

The first step in fighting reversion.  This extends the exhaust collector by reducing the diameter to 3.5 inches and extending it through the cone of the header so it sticks out about 3/4".  By doing this you not only extend the mixing point of the header further aft by about 4", you also gain access to the exhaust collector.  In the field you can weld to the end of the extension to move the mixing point of the header even further back.
We highly recommend this option because you can modify the header for larger cubic inch motors or more radical camshafts.

541405 EXHAUST COLLECTOR EXTENSION

First step in fighting reversion.  This is the same as our 541404 option except we maintain the exhaust collector diameter of 4" and install a 4 1/2" cone on the header.
Then a 4 1/2" to 4" reducer is used or a 4 1/2" exhaust tip.

541403 ADD FOR COLLECTOR LENGTH

The easiest way to combat reversion is to add collector length if room allows.  Both inside and outside collector are lengthen thus moving the mixing point of the header farther aft.

541403-2  PLUS 2"                                                  $100.00
541403-4  PLUS 4"                                                  $120.00

541402 JACKETED TAIL EXTENSION

Shown above is a set of 540304 Headers with a 541402 Jacketed Tail Extension Option.

Headers configured like this will accept all of our Tail Extension options.
541402 Jacketed Tail Extension
541410 Jacketed Thru Hull Tail Extension(loud)
541412 Jacketed Thru Hull Muffler Tail Extension

This option may be beneficial for many different reasons.

Jacketed Tail Extensions will help in the fight against reversion by move the mixing point of the water farther aft.  Mixing water just prior to the boats exhaust tip will provide some muffling effect.

Jacketed Tail Extensions can be made extra long and trimmed in the field.  This way the tip of the Tail Extension can extend to where it actually touches the exhaust tip of the boat maximizing the jacketed length.

If you are unsure about using a Jacketed Tail Extension or a Jacketed Thru Hull Tail Extension (541410).  This way you can try the Jacketed Tail Extension first and if the engine still has a reversion problem you can then replace it with a Jacketed Thru Hull Tail Extension.

541410 JACKETED THRU HULL TAIL EXTENSION

The only way to completely eliminate reversion and steam migration.  Polish stainless steel Jacketed Thru Hull Tail Extensions have a  4 1/2" O.D. and extend past the transom approximately 6" and are dressed on the outside with polished stainless steel bezels and silicone gaskets.
Water is fed into the exhaust stream at the last 3/4" of tail pipe.  Can be configured to exit water prior to the transom thus a totally dry exhaust.  Very loud.

541412 JACKETED THRU HULL MUFFLER EXTENSION

The only way to completely eliminate reversion and steam migration.  Polish stainless steel Jacketed Thru Hull Muffler Extensions have a  5" O.D. passes through the transom approximately 6" and are dressed on the outside with polished stainless steel bezels and silicone gaskets.  Water is fed into the exhaust stream at the last 3/4" of tail pipe.  Can be configured to exit water prior to the transom thus a totally dry exhaust.  Muffler portion of tail is removable for repacking.  10 DB in noise reduction.  Zero horsepower loss.

541407 O-2 FITTING 18-1.5MM

18-1.5MM Bung is welded into header collector.  Usually on the inside flat, but can be placed on top or outside flat but not on bottom.  Great place to monitor air fuel ratio.  On our Dyno engines this is where we check for reversion.

541418 MERCURY OIL FILTER BRACKET

Oil filter brackets to accept Mercury's oil filter mount is welded directly to the header.  There are basically two different Mercury oil filter mounts.  They are identified by the length of mounting bolt.  High oil filter brackets are used when the existing oil filter mount bolted to the top of the elbow and 6" to 8" long bolts attached it.  Low oil filter brackets are used when the existing oil filter mounts bolted to the base of the elbow, and 1 1/2" to 2" bolts attached it.

541425 PREHEAT HEADER BODY

Preheat Header Body option introduces water into the bottom water rail first, out the forward collector fitting, into the front of the engine, out the thermostat housing, into the aft collector fitting and then it mixes with the exhaust.
CAUTION:  The header body has a much larger heat sink area than an old school exhaust and will require a larger volume of water.  If you have a Jet Boat it has a greater chance of overheating at idle.  If you have a V-Drive Boat a 1" cam drive pump is recommended.

541425 PREHEAT HEADER BODY                            $125.00
